Should You Bring Your Dog to Your Wedding? Here is our How To Guide!

Wedding season is here, and if you're anything like us, you’ve probably pictured your dog trotting down the aisle, stealing hearts in style. But before you add your furry friend to the guest list, here are some things to keep in mind.

1. Think Twice Before Including Your Dog

We know, it’s tempting. But a wedding day is long, busy, loud, and filled with unfamiliar faces. Your dog might not get the attention they're used to, and that can be confusing—or even stressful. Make a thoughtful decision about whether being part of the celebration is truly the right choice for your dog.

2. Don’t Plan for the Whole Day

Even if your dog is part of the ceremony, the reception may be overwhelming. When we got married, we had Fritz with us during the ceremony only. Afterward, our dog sitter picked him up and took him somewhere quiet to relax. I worried he’d be confused about leaving the party, but honestly? He was thrilled to escape the crowd.

3. Assign a Dedicated Dog Handler

During the ceremony, have someone in charge of your dog—preferably someone who knows them well. Don’t ask your parents or your maid of honor; choose a friend or a wedding team member who understands your dog’s needs and can stay calm.

4. Pack the Essentials

Bring the basics: water, treats, and poop bags. Weddings are long, and your dog’s comfort is key to making it a positive experience.

5. Let Them Dress the Part

If you’re going to include your dog, let them do it in style. Fritz wore our Black Tie White Sand Walk Set—and yes, he looked absolutely chic.

6. Stay Calm, They’ll Feel It Too

Wedding days are full of excitement, but dogs pick up on your energy. If you're stressed or buzzing with adrenaline, they’ll feel it. So breathe, be present, and ask your friends or family for help if needed. Your calm will help your dog feel comfortable too.

Including your dog in your wedding can be a beautiful moment—but only if it’s right for them. When done thoughtfully, it’s a memory you’ll cherish forever.
